The artist about this work

The Red Chair is part of my Head Held High series, where I explore presence, courage, identity, and the quiet power of taking up space.

A solitary figure stands beside a striking red chair, their head held high and their gaze meeting the viewer directly. There is something intentional about the way they stand,as though they are not simply looking at us, but inviting us into the space.

The red chair becomes a point of invitation. It asks the viewer to pause, to sit, and perhaps to become part of the story. It can be seen as a place of rest, reflection, belonging, or even self-confrontation.

The figure remains standing, grounded and assured, while the empty chair waits beside them. Together, they create a quiet conversation between standing and sitting, presence and pause, observer and participant. The invitation is simply Come, sit. Be present. See yourself.
